Jim Thorpe Wedding Expo
WHERE: Mauch Chunk Ballroom, 41 West Broadway, Jim Thorpe PA (Carbon County PA.) DESCRIPTION: Jim Thorpe is known as a quaint and picturesque town nestled at the western edge of the Poconos but, Jim Thorpe (then called Mauch Chunk) was once known as only second to Niagara Falls as a destination wedding location prior to the Great Depression. Two local business women, Doren Perdie (chef and owner of Through the Looking Glass) and Tara Banninger-Kubas (owner Jim Thorpe Weddings & Events & Slumber Parties by Tara B) in partnership with the Mauch Chunk Ballroom, are determined to put Jim Thorpe back on the map as the North East’s premiere destination wedding location. Tara notes, “This town is a perfect setting for a wedding. Its Victorian charm and the beauty of nature that surrounds it is the perfect backdrop to your special day. There are endless possibilities for your wedding day here from traditional church weddings, to outdoor lakeside or riverside ceremonies. It’s also ideal for a themed wedding for the adventurer that likes to white water raft, climb, bike or hike. Many couples come to Jim Thorpe for a romantic getaway and many couples have become engaged while vacationing here.” The Wedding Expo is also an opportunity for local residents in the surrounding areas to become familiar with the talented craftsman and business people that engage in wedding related business activity. Already slated to be at the event is La Mia Torta, a talented cake maker from Lehighton, Best Buds Florist from Slatington, 4D Karaoke/DJ Services, Carissa Dawn Photos, Signature Wedding Videos, Pun Nuptials, Say it With Doves, Mary Kay, Thirty-One Gifts, and many more! There will be prizes, give-a-ways, a bridal fashion show compliments of Anne Margaret’s Bridal by Victoria of Palmerton, cake tasting, and food tasting compliments of Through the Looking Glass Caterers of Jim Thorpe. It will be broadcast live with Ken the Captain on Magic 105.5 WMGH. The Expo will take place at the beautiful Mauch Chunk Ballroom above the Museum and Cultural Center at 41 West Broadway. Admission to the event is free, but couples are encouraged to pre-register for a chance to win a Day of Wedding Planning Package worth $800 (winner to be chosen at the event.)
